Description: ***SALE PENDING***This is an early Webley R.I.C. No.1, 2nd Pattern, Model 1867 with serial number 27xx. Almost identical to the one pictured in Dowell's book in plate 28(b)and described on page 64 as being manufactured in 1872. The only difference is the ratchet cylinder catches as seen in plate 28(a). These earlier ones were not marked with the Webley name (see plate 28b). This one was retailed by George Gibbs, 29 Corn Street, Bristol, and is so inscribed on the top of the barrel. This one also has the rare features of the foresight ramp and hump at the rear of the topstrap. Dowell states, "The foresight ramp is an interesting feature seldom seen on a weapon of this period;" The cylinder will chamber the standard Webley .455 cartridge but the bore appears a bit larger and may also handle the .476 caliber. The revolver retains most of the bright, shiney blue on the barrel and cylinder with about 45% on the frame. It is perfect mechanically. An interesting, early Webley which can be shipped directly to your home as an antique.
