Many thanks to Mr. Fred Masterson for his helpful site on Spanish Mausers. This specimen of the 1893 Spanish Mauser Rifle comes to us from an estate in nearby Madison County Tennessee. Its late owner bought it during the 1960s, so it is not import marked. Manufacturer is Farbrica de Armas of Oveido, Spain, prominent Spanish Government contractor and prolific exporter. Type is Mauser style bolt action rifle. Construction is blued steel, with white steel bolt. Barrel is 29 inches with issue blade front sight and military rear sight that is calibrated to 2000 meters. Caliber is 7x57 or 7mm Mauser, a common caliber with excellent ballistic performance. Stock and handguard are Spanish Walnut, Government arsenal replacement probably from the 1950s. Serial number is I6000 range, and the date atop the chamber area appears to be 1921, production at the outbreak of the Rif War in Morocco. This rifle has been arsenal refinished, probably post WWII, so its date is dim. Bore shows grainy texture in the rifling grooves throughout, but the rifling lands are strong and the chamber is bright and clean. We rate this 1893 Spanish Mauser as Very Good / Refinish, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. We’re offering it for only $ 289.00.
