The .223 Ackley Improved (.223 AI) is a well respected cartridge that allows standard .223 Rem. ammo be shot in the gun w/ out compromising performance and when the cartridges are fire formed in the slightly longer chamber resulting in an "improved" case that has a new shoulder angle that allows for greater powder capacity and "improved" ballistics similar to those of the .22-250 Rem.
