Here is Smith & Wesson’s 5906 auto in all steel, stainless finish. Smith & Wesson product number was 108176, discontinued some 10 years ago. Caliber is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Type is traditional double and single action locked breech semi automatic pistol. Construction is entirely steel, with Hogue Rubber grips and polymer magazine floorplate and cartridge follower. Barrel is 4 inch Devel type with ball joint muzzle collar that ensures accuracy and facilitates disassembly. Rifling is five groove right hand 1:18.75. Slide is serrated rear, .925 wide at the port; with ambidextrous safety levers that also decock the pistol. Slide also houses the firing pin and magazine safeties: the 5906 will not fire single shot with no magazine. Sights are steel dovetailed front and rear; dot front with two dot Novak combat rear that is drift adjustable only for windage. Hammer is .260 serrated spur, with .304 smooth combat trigger that pulls double action 12 pound vicinity with 1 inch of travel, or two stage 1/2 inch travel single action, 6 pound vicinity with minimal felt creep and overtravel. Trigger guard is cleat serration third type, and serrated grip frame front strap. Magazine furnished is factory issue 15 rounder, stainless bodied with orange follower. Magazine release is gunsmith reversable, right hand shooter. Grips are replacement Hogues with stippled laterals. Overall length is 7 1/2 inches from muzzle to grip frame strut, 5 3/8 inch height. Weight empty is 37 ounces, with center of gravity at the magazine release. The 5906 is heavy, but you can shoot it all day with no recoil fatigue, and actually hit what you’re shooting at. This 5906 served its country with the Puerto Rican Air National Guard. From its serial number prefix, it was manufactured in the mid 1990s. Surface detractions are moderate, principally edge and holster wear. We rate it as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate this 5906 was fired fewer than 1500 times, no rounds at all for a 5906.
