I bought this rifle new in 1997 under the "loaded" promotion Springfield was then running. At that time, the "loaded" package included a national match barrel, a national match tuned trigger assembly, and a national match flash suppressor.
A review of the current specs of the "loaded" model on the Springfield website suggests the package of upgrades from the standard rifle is the same as it was when this rifle was manufactured.
Unfortunately, some time after I bought this rifle, the law in California changed. Because this rifle included the traditional style flash suppressor, it fit the definition of "assault weapon" under the new law.
In order to avoid having to register the rifle with the government (or subject myself to a felony prosecution), I had to remove the flash suppressor and install an approved factory compensator (muzzle brake). With this swap accomplished, the world was a MUCH safer place.
A swap from the compensator back to a flash suppressor is a five minute operation, and does not require a gunsmith. Factory flash suppressors are available from Springfield Armory and Brownell's. The custom tool needed to perform this operation is included in this sale.
I put the original flash suppressor in a safe place, so that I would be able to find it in case the law ever became less insane. Of course, now I cannot remember where that is.
This rifle is in excellent condition.
As you can see from the photos, this rifle includes a walnut stock and a factory leather sling. The rifle will ship with a USGI cleaning kit in the stock, and soft-sided case.
I will include two factory wrapped 20 round magazines, unless the buyer is in California or another state which prohibits high-capacity magazines, in which case, I cannot include these magazines. I believe the other states are Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.
I have to ship through an FFL, and my FFL will have to ship to an FFL.
I am not interested in trades.
