Description: Beretta’s 1994 introduction of its 8000 Cougar retained the smoothness and simplicity of the 92FS / M9 Pistols, but with thinner lines and a shorter barrel. Note that the model marking on the pistol itself is 8000F, no differentiation between it and the full size Cougar. The differentiation comes on the box only; this is an 8000F_L, exact quote of the box’s model designation. The Cougar’s cam lock rotating barrel still stands as an unparalleled innovation. Stateside marketing endured during 2004 and 2005. Photos show one specimen out of only a few we were able to get, with BP Italian Date code, manufactured in 2001, before the series hit the SHOT Show. This is the Matte Blue Compact version, marketed only in about 2004 and 2005, according to Fjiestad. As far as specs, type is cammed blowback traditional double and single action semi-automatic with 3.6 inch barrel. The ambidextrous safety levers also serve as decockers, to put the car in park, just like the US Army’s M9. Construction is lightweight alloy frame, Matte blue and anodized, with steel slide, barrel, and working parts; and with a blue steel serrated spur modified Commander type hammer, as the photos show. Hammer is blue steel, as is the trigger pin and grip screws. Sights are dovetailed in black anodized three dot; and these pistols’ hang tags have Italian language reference to Bianchi type for the sights. Grip panels are checkered texture polymer. Grip frame is serrated fore and aft, and the magazine release can be easily reversed for Left Handed shooters, just like the M9. Maximum slide thickness is 1.1 inches; overall length measures 7 inches from the muzzle to the grip frame strut, same as the full size 8000 F; height is 4 13/16 inches from the top of the rear sight to the bottom of the magazine floorplate. Weight empty is 29 ounces, down a bit over 2 ounces from the 8000F variant with full length grip frame. Capacity is 13 + 1 rounds of 9mm Luger – 9mm Parabellum – 9x19 – call it what you will, THE 9mm. Each pistol in this small lot is identical to the photo specimen except for its serial number; in its original Italian Factory Beretta box and blue carrying case with a total of two magazines, a California Compliant padlock; and instruction manual. Beretta 92FS / M9 Magazines can be easily modified to fit this Cougar. Note that this pistol is not stamped Beretta USA; rather, it is stamped by the importer, PWA. Beretta USA, then, will not likely honor any warranty work, but we do not recall ever sending a 92 series or 8000 series pistol in for service anyway. Each pistol from this lot is thoroughly Italian, from the proof marks on the frame to the manual and silver outer box labels. This pistol represents a one time opportunity for Beretta Collectors and for anyone who wants a high grade 9mm. We’re offering the 8000FL Cougar Compact, however, each for only $ 489.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts. For civilian buyers in jurisdictions where 13 round magazines are restricted to Law Enforcement only, $25 off but no magazines. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $12 lower 48; $40 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
