Description: From its civilian collector home here in Southwest Tennessee comes this very attractive S&W .357 Combat Magnum Stainless, numbered model 66, first engineering change, in its standard service configuration: square butt grip frame; 4 inch pinned heavy barrel; .265 serrated face service trigger in satin stainless, with matching hammer nose style .375 semi-target hammer; and period correct Pachmayr SK/S grips with no logo. Type is traditional single and double action revolver with transfer bar internal safety mechanism; weight empty 38 ounces; capacity six rounds of .38 Special or .357 Magnum ammunition interchangeably; windage and elevation adjustable black blade rear sight, matte non-glare stainless barrel rib and red ramp stainless front sight. Rear cylinder face is recessed or counterbored. Grip frame is classic K Square Butt. Serial number prefix is 50K range; so this revolver was manufactured in 1979, perhaps even 1978. Barrel is secured into the frame with the classic Bangor Punta era steel pin, and the cylinder’s rear chamber faces are counterbored, or recessed as we often say, Pinned and Recessed. Surface detractions are moderate, principally flattening to the knurled end of the ejector rod. Rear sight shows edge whitening, and there is holster buffing at places on the muzzle, the cylinder surface, and a strap streak on the side plate. We rate it as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate; but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is Excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the underside of the frame top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is minimal, a thin etchy streak with no depth that traverses about 3/4 of the width of the top strap. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap measures .010 from the right side. Lateral play to the cylinder is negligible, no more than 1/2 mm total with the trigger relaxed, and even less with the trigger fully depressed. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels an additional 5 to 10 degrees on all six positions after the cylinder times. On single action, the hammer travels fully 25 degrees on all six after the cylinder times; and the single action trigger pull is a crisp original 4 pounds. Bore, cylinder chambers and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. We’re offering this historic, attractive, and eminently serviceable Model 66-1 for only $ 619.00. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
