Here is a very attractive and fully traditional classic Remington 870 Police Shotgun that has served and protected our fellow citizens in the Chesapeake since the Nixon Years; if, that is, we are correct in dating its O X Barrel Code to July of 1973. Serial number is T412000V range. Receiver is neatly marked with the Prince George’s P.D. stamping. The historical context for the production of this shotgun was several preceding years of Antiwar protests and race riots, many of them right across the Potomac in the Nation’s Capital; and then considerable anxiety following the attempted assassination of Presidential Candidate George Wallace and an ongoing crisis in leadership over the Watergate Scandal. As far as this specimen’s condition, metal surface wear is only moderate, and original bluing is strong throughout. Sharp edges show whitening at places, and the left side of the receiver some whitened scour streaks on its top rear area. Original traditional smooth buttstock and serrated Police forend have been professionally refinished to a semi-gloss very similar to the original issue. Barrel is original special order Cylinder Bore and so marked. This shotgun, in our estimate, is a strong Very Good, close to Excellent specimen finishwise. Photos should suffice, however, for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically. Bore, chamber and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Shell contact streaking on the blue steel shell carrier is only moderate, and the chrome is fully intact with no visible peeling on the bolt chrome. Barrel is 18 inch cylinder bore, 2 3/4 inch shells only; buttstock is full original 14 inch length of pull including the pad. We’re offering this classic 870 Police for only $ 319.95.
