Here is a well constructed 1911 Government style, U.S. Made Pistol from a small failed company in the Memphis Area, C.O. Arms, also known as DGC Custom Gunsmithing. Several start up companies tried to take advantage of the post election binge in 2009, but were not able to weather the hangover that began in late 2009. This is an entirely Stainless variant of their 1911A1 pistol made on the order of the Colt XSE Government Stainless. Slide and frame are stainless steel. This pistol is standard Government Size, 38 ounce vicinity empty. Slide is serrated fore and aft, XSE style, with dovetailed partridge front sight and Novak style combat black rear sight. Grip safety is stainless beavertail with serrated bottom section; stainless checkered flat C style mainspring housing; standard magazine release; serrated skeleton type match trigger with overtravel adjustment; serrated .305 service width stainless Government type hammer. Slide is OC Arms’s own Series 70 type without firing pin safety. Bushing is match grade stainless and mated to the barrel. Grips are traditional US Checkered Diamond Style Checkered Walnut with Allen screws, and added Hogue Style front strap cover. Both magazines are 8 round Colt Factory Stainless. Surface detractions on this pistol are minimal, and most of them original to the pistol. Milling is somewhat rough on the safety lever surface and around the trigger recess area of the frame. Slide exhibits some frame contact operation buffing on its lower muzzle area. Left grip panel shows one small flattened place. We have test fired this pistol extensively, some 100 rounds, with Winchester Ball and Remington UMC Hollowpoints and no malfunctions, using Colt and Mec-Gar magazines. It has a warranty, but since the company is defunct, we’re simply offering our 7 day money back. It comes with all its factory papers and a total of two magazines.
