LG1400 The Mossberg 590A1 Shotgun has long established itself as a staple in the small arms arsenals of our soldiers, sailors, and police officers. The weather-resistant Parkerized finish, too, has always been a favorite of our Gulf Coast enforcers in particular. Here is Mossberg’s 590A1 Military shotgun in its full battle dress tactical format: 3 inch chamber, 20 inch Cylinder Bore heavy barrel; Ghost Ring adjustable wide aperture rear sight with OSHA red insert blade front sight; and traditional serrated corn-cob style synthetic forend with three very non-traditional Picatinny rails on it. Bringing up the rear is a 5 position M-4 type ATI Collapsible buttstock. Construction is steel barrel, magazine tube, and internal parts with lightweight alloy receiver and military spec trigger group housing. All steel surfaces are finished with Mossberg’s weather- and salt-water resistant GI military parkerized finish; and the receiver is matte anodized. The time-honored 590 action has top tang, southpaw-friendly safety and double steel action bars. Magazine capacity is 8 + 1 on 2 3/4 inch shells, and 7 + 1 on three inch shells. Weight empty is 7 pounds 9 ounces. This specimen is one of Mossberg’s showgirls, what we call a factory demo. It has never been out of Mossberg corporate custody until we got it. Surface detractions are negligible, only faint amounts of operation buffing on the slide arms and magazine tubes. We rate it as Excellent, since no more than 5 percent of its surfaces have been affected by handling. It comes in a factory box with instruction manual and Mossberg cable lock, as well as a factory six month warranty. Replacement pricing on any of the 590A1s is well over $600 in our area.
