Beautiful Colt Commando 38 Special, with a four inch barrel. Colt made less than 50,000 of these between 1942 and 1945. The Commando is a World War 2 variant of the Official Police revolver, with a parkerized finish, visible tool markings, and no checkering on the trigger or cylinder latch. Most of these revolvers were purchased by the government and used by defense plant guards, police departments and security personnel of various government organizations.
This Commando has a four digit serial number (93XX), indicating early production. It also does not have the flaming bomb or military proof mark. Many of the early Commandos did not have any markings.
Condition is near mint-there is a bit of wear in the finish on the trigger and some very light handling marks. Bore is perfect.
Original box and cleaning brush included, no manual. The serial number is marked on the box top, side and bottom.
