Description: General Specs: Browning, Year 1973, 28 Gauge, 6lbs 12oz, Chokes IC/M, LOP 14 1/2", DAH 2 1/8", DAC 1 3/8"

Serial Number: 130 F73

The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs. Produced in plain-jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped. The Midas Grade was the highest grade of engraving and wood offered for the regular production models, and was cut with deep relief style acanthus scroll, game scene vignettes with large, raised gold inlays outlined in fine gold wire. The trigger guard and a 1 ½” section of the breech end of the barrels also received the deep relief scroll work. The wood was exceptionally figured high-grade walnut with fancy checkering that wrapped over the top of the wrist, with spear points and flourishes on the borders. The Midas Grade is truly an exceptional work of art. This particular gun, sn130 F73 made in 1973 (well after the salt years debacle, no salt issues; see factory letter), was produced as a 28ga. with 26 1/2” barrels choked IC/M. This fine Midas small bore is in mint condition and comes in the original Browning factory case and includes the warranty book, instruction booklet, keys, and other paper. The case is in superb condition as well. The wood is finely figured European walnut with the long tang trigger guard and has 14 ¼” LOP to the factory buttplate. The checkering and wood finish is as new from the factory. The engraving is double-signed by Rosa Bee and Antoinette Grigante and is flawlessly executed. It is quite unique in the world of Browning Superposed to have a Midas Grade double signed by two women…a real plus in this day of political correctness! The gun has 100% of the factory finish remaining and there are no marks in the wood or metal. THIS IS A RARE AND DESIRABLE BROWNING SUPERPOSED. THE TOTAL PRODUCTION OF BROWNING SUPERPOSED GUNS IN MIDAS GRADE 28 GAUGE WAS ONLY 119 GUNS DURING THE ENTIRE PRODUCTION RUN STARTING IN 1964 AND ENDING 1977. This is one of the finest examples you will ever encounter, and we are offering the gun at a very reasonable price. Thanks for looking!
