The wood stock is in repaired condition, with cracks, chips and some wood loss at the top of the lock however the stock is solid as a rock and the old repairs add a lot of history (see photos). It has brass butt plate and trigger guard and a German silver nose cap entrance thimble (see photos). The barrel has been fitted with one steel thimble and a steel ram rod (see photos). The iron metal finish has an aged mottled grey patina (see photos). This rifle has a 32" barrel and from what I can see, has a dark bore (I have not cleaned this gun or taken it apart). 13 1/2" LOP to the front trigger and is 47" over all. The unmarked, lock function perfectly (trigger must be set before it will cock) and has a strong hammer spring. At the sale that said this was a gun made in Ohio but is not maker marked (see photos). It is difficult to date the lock or tell the guns manufacture but everything on the gun appears to have been unaltered from the original and is period correct.
