LG1148 Here is a specimen of the most popular Weatherby Rifle, the Vanguard, chambered in the flat-shooting .270 Winchester caliber. It was manufactured for Weatherby by Howa of Japan, as the Vanguard has been for over three decades now. The Howa-made Vanguards have always given superior performance in the field and on the range; there is no question as to their quality. This is a local rifle , VL26000 range serial number, manufactured in the early 1990s. It comes to us from one of our many aging Irish relatives here in West Tennessee. It came from us new a few years back, and its exclusive owner has been only an occasional hunter now for several years. This Vanguard only shows minimal case and contact wear to its matte blue finish: whitening around the edges of the muzzle crown, and inconspicuous occasional freckling. We rate it as Very Good, close to Excellent, 85 to 90 percent vicinity finishwise. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. From our knowledge of its owner, it has been fired fewer than 150 times. Scope base is a blue steel Redfield JR type, and it will accept any Redfield type JR/SR Scope rings. Replacement price on this rifle, still in production, is $600 or more in our area.
