Here is Remington’s tried and true model 700 Special Purpose Synthetic Varmint Rifle chambered in .22-250. Manufacturer, of course, is Remington Arms of Ilion New York. Factory number is 84216. Type is long range center fire bolt action rifle. The foundation of the 700 action, writes the factory, is its unique bolt design. The bolt face, barrel, and receiver surround and support the cartridge head with three overlapping rings of solid steel. The Model 700 receiver is machined from a solid block of ordnance-grade steel, then drilled and tapped for scope mounts. 700 Varmint rifles have heavy, free-floating 26 inch barrels crowned at the muzzle for unparalleled accuracy and stability. Barrel is recess crowned 26 inch, .810 diameter at the muzzle and .895 at the forend, six groove 1:14 right hand twist. Internal BDL floorplate style magazine holds 4 rounds of .22-250 ammunition, 4+1 fully loaded capacity. Receiver is short action, and readily takes a steel One Piece Redfield JR type base or any number of Picatinny Bases on the market for short action 700s. Leupold one piece base numbers are 50005 or 50006. Trigger is .325 smooth faced ribbed steel Remington X-Mark, externally adjustable. It is pre-set on 5 pounds, easily movable up or down. Buttstock is semi beavertail bench rest type, laterally vented black graphite based synthetic, with pliable gray rubber lateral inlays. Length of pull measures 13 5/8 inches from the trigger face to the end of the 3/4 inch factory recoil pad; and 700 SPS stocks are known for their pliability and recoil absorbing qualities. Swivel or bipod studs are matte blue steel, with dual studs on the forend as the photos show. Weight empty is 8 pounds 8 ounces unscoped, with center of gravity beneath the forward end of the chamber. Each 700 SPS-V comes in its factory box with hang tags, cable lock, instruction manual, and factory registration card. Replacement pricing in remington com is $761.00.
