We are offering for sale a Marlin Model 1897 lever action rifle chambered in .22 S, L and LR caliber. This rifle is completely original in 98% condition. Rear tang model designation reads “Model ‘97” placing the date of manufacture after 1905 and before manufacturing of the 1897 ceased in 1917.
This rifle was in the private collection of Perry White, a well-known gun dealer here in Massachusetts, who owned this gun for a decades before his death. FRESH TO THE MARKETPLACE.
24” round barrel is excellent retaining the majority of its original bluing with some very light wear to Marlin company information. Barrel is fitted with an original flip-up globe front sight, adjustable buckhorn rear sight AND flip-up peep sight on the rear tang. Magazine tube is excellent as well retaining its original bluing. Take-down receiver shows beautiful case colors. Lever action works flawlessly and feel incredibly smooth. Furniture is very good+ with little handling wear. Absolutely no structural flaws. THIS RIFLE IS SIMPLY AMAZING.
