Meticulously hand refinished by James River Armory, a highly respected military firearms restorer. This is an original piece with intact original Nazi markings (Swastikas peened) and proof stamps, and with matching serial numbers on major components (may be re-serialized, possibly during a German rebuild process). This rifle has an original stock set with correct finish, properly cartouched for the manufacturer and year; original sights and bands, the front sight without a hood, correct for the year; correct butt plate for the manufacturer and year; original barrel in good shootable condition with clean rifling; all critical areas inspected and headspace checked for safety by a certified armorer; test fired for functionality; all metal detail refinished in proper bluing and polish. This rifle (marked “660 1940”) was built by Steyer-Daimler-Puch AG, Steyer in 1940, and is the early type; (Richard D. Law, “Backbone of the Wehrmacht – The German K98K Rifle 1”); a historical piece without question. Only 130,942 were produced. Serial Number 7143. A little unusual, the barrel shows the barrel manufacturer code, where codes often become buried under the stock during installation. This rifle is in quite good condition, and are becoming very difficult to obtain. Only a year ago we were selling these for less than we now have to pay wholesale, so appreciation has been good.
