Description: Serial number on this U.S. Springfield model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle in .45-70 Government Caliber is 4882xx, dating it to 1888 or 1889 production. This is a very nice, very solid trapdoor with normal aging, but very tight mechanically and thoroughly original. The bore itself is Very Good, with no signs of any pitting. Barrel is its full 32 1/2 inches, measures 38 inches from the muzzle to the rear of the top tang. Overall length is 52 inches. Metal is a very nice brownish blue patina throughout, and the breech assembly has very strong original bluing in evidence. Trigger guard and buttplate have substantial moderate pitting on their surfaces; otherwise, surface pitting is faint throughout, and we estimate it affects no more than 15 percent of the entire metal surfaces, buttplate and trigger guard not included. Wood is Good to Very Good, with no visible cracks apart from superficial weathering adjacent to the buttstock, and none of those half dozen or so exceed 1/2 inch. Wood adjacent to the lock plate has faint chipping ialong the bottom side, but the inlay is correct, as the photos show. The most pronounced wood detraction is not a serious one, a 2 inch crease on the under side directly below the rear sight's back edge. Ramrod appears original, as do all the parts and swivels. We detect no secondary stress to any of the screw slots, and we do not believe any of them have ever been removed. Cartridge pouch is marked A. Dahl, Barmen; most of the cartridges are headstamped WCC 1943. This rifle came to us from a retired barkeep from Southside Chicago, who traded for it in the early 1960s. We regret we have no further personal history on the rifle. If the buyer wants the cartridges, we will need to add $12.00 for shipping them separately, and will need an ammo statement if the buyer is a non-dealer and wants them shipped direct and not to an FFL. Except for New Jersey and Hawaii Buyers, no FFL is required on this item; we do, however, require a copy of the buyer's State-Issued Photo Identification. Own this fine, solid late 1880s Springfield Trapdoor .45-70 for only $ 779.95

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
