In the January, 2006 issue of Rifle Magazine, Eastman wrote of this rifle's accuracy - "It didn't seem to matter what factory load or carefully brewed handload was used, everything was an inch or less with every five-shot group. Anything that went outside an inch was pilot error not the rifle or ammunition. A couple of different factory loads and some handholds with different bullet weights were right at .5 inch." (Copies of the magazine are included). The rifle itself is built on Empire Rifle's much-refined version of the Mauser Model 98 action featuring a 3-position wing safety, integral bolt handle with checkered knob and detachable 3-round magazine (cartridges feed straight into the chamber without hesitation and capacity is 3 + 1). The barrel is 24 inches long and likely a Wiseman match grade. The stock is a premium synthetic with impressed checkering, integral trigger guard, cheekpiece and gray pebble finish. LOP is 13.75 inches and weight (with scope) is 9.2 pounds. Overall condition is about 98%, with only slight indications of field use. Both the rifle and scope are personalized, with "Chub Eastman" marked on the barrel and turret. The Leupold scope is a VX-III 3.5-10x40mm, likely from the Custom Shop.
