ADDITION; This S&W, I framed, Regulation Police was made in 1917-18. It was originally carried by the Town Marshal of Nebo N.C.,a crossroads community in western North Carolina. Nebo returned it's town charter to the N.C. Goverment in 1944 and thus ceased to exist. This revolver may have been owned by either the town or the Marshal. It is chambered for the .32 S&W Long with a rare six inch barrel and fixed sights. The Serial Number is rollstamped on the front strap into the original(?) blue with the original, rounded grips with extention wooden panels. At the base of the left grip panel in tiny block letters is stamped, PAT. JUNE 5 1917,. The mechanics are fine, the chambers are clear and the bore is sharp. The humpbacked hammer is and smooth trigger are in excellent condition. The finish shows some holster wear and some fading of the color caseharding on the hammer and trigger. but all in all the condition is execellent. This is an unusual varation of the Regulation Police with a 6 inch barrel. The .32 S&W Long was considered sufficent for many eastern towns of this period, and the NYCPD as well.
