Buttstock is fully traditional, made on the order of the old SP-1 Colts so many of which saw action in Vietnam, complete with spring loaded buttplate door. Receiver retains traditional configuration except for its full length Picatinny or Weaver type rail. Forward bolt assist is cosmetic, but authentic and metal. Bolt release is cosmetic but authentic looking; the well constructed weighted 30 shot magazine locks the bolt open on the last shot, and the charging handle works to return the bolt on a new loaded magazine or with the magazine removed from battery. Safety lever is traditional AR-15 / M-16/4 180 degree pivot lever. Flip up sights are authentic and metal, with a 1.5 inch aperture rear and matching front. Rear sight is windage adjustable, and front sight post is mil-spec elevation adjustable, same configuration as the 5.56 Nato parent rifles. Forend is an innovative combination of traditional serrated rear rounded hold plate system with forward area that fully utilizes the quad system picatinny setup. Barrel is authentically colorized heavy barrel lightweight shroud with cage setup that houses a 22 inch German Walther inner barrel sleeve. Exposed breech area of the barrel has Walther Markings including Date Code and German proofmarks. Right side of receiver bears the Carl Walther and Umarex information. Left side of receiver bears Colt Factory Trademark Rampant Cold, then Colt’s registered stylized trademark, then the words M16 Rifle / Cal. .22 LR above the serial number, BP instead of SP prefix with 6 digits; and the specimens we have are all below 40000. Overall length is 39.8 inches; and weight empty with magazine in battery is 6.3 pounds. Umarex factory SKU number is 2245056, the best looking of six variants that the fine company has imported, all of which are in short supply.
