This is the faintly modified descendant of the 1955 Smith & Wesson Airweight Bodyguard, the model 638-3, current production 5-shot lightweight stainless .38 Special with the classic 2 inch barrel. With considerable demand for pocket revolvers in the 1950s, Smith & Wesson introduced its Centennial Model in 1952, but there was still demand for a pocket lightweight .38 that a person could still fire in single action mode, like the Airweight Chief's Special, only without the hammer spur snagging a person's pocket or purse upon drawing the weapon. The upper part of the frame, as the photos show, shield the hammer; but still exposes its cleat-serrated hammer spur enough to produce a cocking motion for precise single action firing. The lightweight stainless variant of the Airweight Bodyguard, the 638, was introduced as a limited run in 1989, then added as a regular part of the Smith & Wesson line in 1996, when Smith & Wesson beefed up the J-frame sufficiently for it to handle High Performance +P ammunition. This third, current variant of the 638 has a .312 MIM Metal-injected-Molded .312 smooth combat trigger and MIM flat-faced hammer with floating firing pin. All S&W Revolvers have an internal transfer bar safety that prevents accidental firing if a loaded weapon is dropped, and in 2002, the 638-3 entered the market with Smith & Wesson's patented internal lock. Barrel length is 1 7/8 inches, and this 5 shot pocket revolver only weighs 14 5/8 ounces empty. Grips are Smith & Wesson's new boot grip, softer rubber panels that give a surer grip without increasing the dimensions of the revolver. Smith & Wesson Product Code is 163070. These revolvers have always been fairly scarce, hardly ever more so than nowadays. Replacement price on them in our area, if a person can find one, is upwards of $600.00. We're offering the .38 Bodyguard Airweight Stainless model 638-3, the one in the photo or one of its identical mates, however for only $ 389.95
Now transferable to civilians in all jurisdictions of the United States of America. God bless Mr. Otis McDonald!

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
