This is a very unique and beautifully executed SIDELOCK rifle/shotgun combination. The rifle barrels have solid rib with gold blade front sight, single leaf rear sight and custom claw type scope mount bases. These rifle barrels are chambered for a 8mmx75 round 'S' custom cartridge. This cartridge is in the same class as the 300 H&H magnum and uses the later more modern .323 diameter bullet, designed for African use. The basic case is an adaption of the 9.3x74R which has seen almost 100 years of service in Africa. These rifle barrels will shoot 1" groups at 100 yards shooting right barrel then left barrel, which is incredible accuracy for a double rifle. The shotgun barrels are 26 3/4", 20 Gauge, 3" chambers, auto ejectors and are choked modified. Both sets of barrels show a beautifully done 3" wedge of scroll engraving with gold wire inlays on the sides. The action is covered in deep relief engraving signed by the master engravers, Ralph & Olaf Weiss. The right side shows a retriever and four ducks in a marsh scene with a gold wire border. The left side shows four boars in a wooded scene with a gold wire border. The straight grip stock is breath taking exibition grade English walnut with multi-point fine-line checkering, sling swivel and vented rifle pad. Each barrel set has its own matching forearm with engraving and gold wire inlay on the latch and knuckle. Item come with original Merkel box. This set is one-of-a-kind made for the 2001 IWA show.
