This allows to be lighter and easier to carry than the original design. The 745 was produced from 1940-49. This one was fitted with a butt pad. It has seen some use and as such shows some external wear. It seems the 745 was someone’s favorite shotgun for outdoors. The receiver’s finish has turned into a soft arm green color. The forend has a small crack at the front that would be an easy fix. More importantly, the 745 needs a new butt pad. What it has on now has dried up over time and is crumbling. Otherwise, the gun functions just as it should. A function test has been performed using A-Zoom snap caps and the gun loads, fires, extracts, and ejects as it should, even when be operated solely by hand (i.e. not actually being fired). Compared to its worn exterior, the 745’s internals are remarkably clean. The chamber is not dirty at all. The bore is in amazing condition, with no signs of rust or pitting. The bore has a choke diameter of 0.705 inches, making it an improved modified choke. With a good butt pad and the I-Mod choke, this shotgun would effective out to 60 yards, making it a fine long range or geese gun. Condition: Used - See Item Description Brand: Savage Arms Co.
