This Browning 45-70 caliber black powder cartridge rifle (BPCR) rifle is ready to go right out of the box for BPCR silhouette shoots, other type of competition, or hunting. The case-hardened receiver offers the look found on the originals. The Badger barrel, made of the highest quality SAE 4150 chromemoly steel, features special rifling for shooting cast bullets with black powder. This gun mounts a top of the line Kelley Long Range Soule sight and the original hooded, spirit level front sight (with eight interchangeable inserts), but comes with the original Browning Soule type sights as well. The Kelley sight is recognized as the best you can buy – just what you need for winning BPCR silhouette competitions. This rifle is a true black powder cartridge version of the 1885 outfitted just like it was over a century ago. Function is similar to today's High Wall 1885, without the ejector system and shell deflector. The receiver, lever, butt plate and grip cap are all color-cased steel. The walnut stock has pistol grip styling, Schnabel fore-end, and 18-lines-per-inch checkering, all with an oil-like finish. As shown in the photos, the grain of the wood is spectacular. The barrel is matte-finished blue. The barrel is part octagon, part round, and has 8-groove rifling designed just for heavy cast lead bullets with either black powder or smokeless loads. The length of pull is 13 3/16”, drop at comb and drop at heel is 7/8”, barrel length is 30” with a 1 in 18” rate of twist, sight radius is 34”, overall length is 46 1/8”, and its approximate weight is 11 lbs. The gun’s condition is like new. There are no blemishes or defects that I can find anywhere on the gun. I am the second owner and have never fired the gun. The gun appears to never have been fired. I take money orders or cashier’s check from a nationally recognized bank. No personal checks please. The gun will be sold as shown. Please don’t ask me to sell the Kelley sight separately or to sell the gun without the Kelley sight. The gun will be shipped to the new owner carefully packaged in a padded hard plastic case, packed in a cardboard box. I will ship FedEx Ground fully insured for the purchase price.
