This rifle is a "safe to shoot" '03, as the receiver (SN 359XXX) was made well after the heat treat problems were fixed and after the introduction of better nickel-steel for the receivers. The barrel is marked "R A" and "7-42" with the Flaming Bomb mark in between them. This is a really a good looking rifle in beautiful condition. The trigger is smooth and the bore is shiny with plenty of visible rifling; everything works as it should. It also has the hard-to-find front sight cap. A great example of an arsenal rebuild, as refinished. An historically significant rifle for the collector and shooter.
