Description:
Inland M1 carbine .30 cal, serial number 51855xx, made in 1944. No import marks. Barrel is new Criterion, other parts are mixed manufacturers, all are detailed below and shown in photos. Stock is GI M2.
This carbine is in very good used condition. Finish on metal parts is worn but there is no pitting.

The carbine has been disassembled, examined, cleaned and lubricated. Parts were clean for photos, coated with oil and greased where appropriate when reassembled.

-Receiver: Jan 1944 –Aug 1944. Excellent used condition in that there is no rust, but the parkerized finish shows some wear
-Barrel: new Criterion, just installed by our gunsmith. Marked “CBI11 3T-B”
-Barrel ME: 0
-Front sight: appears GI, but unmarked
-Rear sight: adjustable, milled, marked “SA”, Springfield Armory
-Bolt: round, marked “AOB” on rotation lug, IBM. Marking is faint. Finish is worn but the bolt is in good working condition
-Firing pin: round, parkerized, marked “.U.”, Underwood
-Extractor: late type flat lip, marked “IN”, National Postal Meter
-Barrel band: bayonet lug type, marked “KI”, Inland
-Trigger housing: marked “.U.”, Underwood, fabricated type
-Safety: flip, marked
-Operating slide: marked “UN”, National Postal Meter
-Hammer: straight, marked “WM”, Wallkill Machine Works
-Trigger: marked “SG”, Saginaw Gear
-Sear: unmarked
-Magazine catch: 30-round type, marked “M” on tab
-Stock: walnut, no markings, no cracks, oval cut low wood “potbelly” M2 type. Probably a GI replacement, good quality piece with typical amount of small dings and scratches. There is a chip out near the barrel band screw
-Handguard: walnut, four rivets, unmarked, no cracks, very few dings and scratches
-Recoil plate: marked “WJ”, probably Wadsworth Watch Co. for Jamestown Lounge
-Buttplate: unmarked, square checkering pattern
-Magazine: 15 round, marked “U”, Underwood
-Sling and oiler: new repro
