The new Weatherby SA-08 Synthetic, writes the factory, features the proven dual valve system that allows shooters to quickly adapt the shotguns to accommodate the widest load ranges. The dual valve system also manages recoil and reduces it as compared to traditional single valve shotguns. The SA08, then, is a semi-auto improvement upon the barrel seal and port system of the Remington 1100/1187 and Beretta 301/390 Series with interchangeable milled alloy tube pieces that allow gas op minimized felt recoil but without the mess and fuss of an O Ring type barrel seal. The design is distinctly Italian. Manufacturer is ATA Arms of Istanbul, Turkey. Importer is Weatherby Inc., of Paso Robles, CA. Construction is Steel Barrel, bolt, tubes, and internal parts with lightweight alloy receiver and drop out trigger / hammer / carrier assembly. Type is gas operated semi-automatic shotgun. Chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells interchangeably. Barrel is 28 inch, 8 post .312 checkered serration surface Ventilated Rib, with brass bead front sight. Barrel is threaded for current production Mossberg Accu-Chokes, and interchangeable not only with straight bore Mossberg Tubes, but also with old style Winchokes and Browning Invectors, of which there are plenty across the country. Chokes furnished are one slash .695 Full [no steel], three slash .712 Modified steel OK, and .718 Improved Cylinder steel & slugs OK. Each shotgun comes in its original box with instruction manual, total of three choke tubes, and both gas valve assemblies. This shotgun has served as a Weatherby showgirl, as a sales rep’s sample and on display at Industry Shows like the annual SHOT show at Las Vegas. Surface detractions are minimal to negligible, faint occasional box contact streaking as the photos show. We rate it as Excellent in Box, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, magazine, and mechanism are all bright and clean.
