We recommend against inexperienced shooters owning auto pistols in the first place, novice gun owners should start out with revolvers, not with autos. Small autos by their nature must have stiff recoil springs, and that makes the slide hard to operate in order for a person to chamber the first round or unload the pistol. For those with little strength in their grip, and who must have an auto, get a Beretta 21, 950, or .32 Tomcat where a person doesn't have to manually cycle the pistol's slide. Dealing plastic guns is not exactly our overriding passion, but here is a good one, worth the money, and we give Kel-Tec Company credit for producing a good cheap gun, emphasis on good. From our personal experience selling them, there is a less than 3% return ratio; that is, fewer than 3 out of 100 have to go back to the factory for service. That’s a good ratio in anybody’s book. This is the latest, thinnest variant of the Kel-Tec auto, the P9F, F for Flat, with frame rail. A light or laser mount would add to the .890 thickness, of course.
