Brazilian workmanship has always been excellent, with the possible exception of the old Boito brand of double barrels. This is a Rossi – Braztech Single Shot Rifle in .30-06 caliber; and photos show a specimen we had in stock at ad comp time, Fall 2008. The stock and forend appear to be walnut, but we are not absolutely certain about that. Word is that there will be no more Brazilian Walnut, Goncalo, or even Brazilian hardwood. The few .30-06 Rossis we have do not have the Taurus system hammer lock or keys, so they are even more desirable for some of us. Factory specs are as follows: Taurus catalog number R306MB; caliber .30-06 Springfield; break-open single shot action; single stage trigger; transfer bar and manual lever safeties; 23 inch barrel with Weaver base and no rear sight; overall length 38 ½ inches; weight empty 6 ¼ pounds; Brazilian Walnut stock with 14 inch Length of Pull and factory recoil pad. We heartily recommend the Remington Reduced Recoil loads, readily available in most areas, for lighter weight or recoil-sensitive folk who use these rifles. This rifle comes with a Weaver type scope base and hammer extension for scope mounting, as the photos show. If someone wants see-thru over/under scope rings on one of these, get ready to spend $50 on a set of higher sights & lots of ammo to set those sights.
