The Winchester Model 94 succeeded the famous Winchester 1894, the first lever rifle able to fire the high-pressure smokeless powder that came with the .30 WCF, also known as the .30-30 caliber. The Model 94 is the same rifle as the Model 1894 with a nomenclature change that occurred in 1920. The Winchester M1894 comes from the era when cowboys still road high in their saddles throughout the West, armed with Colts and Winchesters, drifting with the cattle while real danger still existed from rogue Indians and highway robbers. This rifle, sn2219254 built in 1956, is in remarkable condition with 99.5% blue and excellent factory finish remaining on the wood. Winchester rifleman know that being pre-1964 production is important for quality and desirability. Most pre-’64 rifles have been used hard. Even if cared for they will show bluing loss on the barrel, receiver, lever, and loading gate.
