The bore is well used, shallow pitting, but with prominent rifling and not dark. All in working order with reasonable lock up - not perfect - but all four clicks in the right place. The front sight has been messed with, but it shoots straight. Serial numbers are clear and match. The two-line barrel address is there, but faint. Colt and patent dates also clear. The caliber marking is barely readable. This Colt has been re-nickled at some point. It appears that the cylinder pin and cross latch have been replaced. The holster rig is obviously somewhat younger than the gun, but cartridge belt and holster are still vintage. I have no knowledge of age on the stag grips, but they fit tight. We test fired the gun with cowboy loads and it did fine, but we make no guarantees for the next shooter. It's not perfect, but very serviceable. The cartridge belt measures 36" from the tongue to the shortest hole, and 43" to the longest. It has loops for 31 cartridges and several individual loops have been re-stitched where the old thread gave up. The mark on the back of the cartridge belt appears to be "Bauer Bros." over "St. Louis" but I can't make all of it out. I find no marks at all on the holster. (Cartridges are for display and don't go with the rig.) All in all, this makes a great Western collectible, though the leather is some 50 years younger than the 115 year old Colt.
