Description: GALLAGER US CIVIL WAR CARBINE This is an all original carbine from the American Civil War. Gallager model 1860, made by Richardson and Overman of Philadelphia. .50 caliber, and cartridges were either brass, brass foil/paper or steel foil/paper. Reproduction cartridges are available and the Gallager is often used in N-SSA shooting matches. This carbine is in nice condition overall, and has all of its original parts. The wood stock is solid without repairs. There is a spare nipple in the storage area. The user put his initials on one side. You can see the wear from being carried on a cavalry snap. Stock is original finish. Believe the cartouche was rubbed out by the sling swivel snap. Bore is pretty good, and solid rifling. Of course some areas of oxidation spots. Rear and front sights are nice. Action works fine. Please see the pictures. There is a 3 day inspection period, but you pay shipping/insurance both ways. Please ask any questions before committing.
