Ruger fitted these early rifles with Douglas barrels with target crown and this rifle is very accurate. The caliber is double stamped on the barrel due to some confusion Remington feared would cause among people selecting the correct cartridge to buy as their Rem. 7mm mag. designation was too close to the 7mm Rem. Express. Therefore, Ruger stamped the barrel with (.280 Rem.or 7mm Express Rem.) If not rare, certainly interesting.
