This one is the Optics-ready variant of the MP-15, with receiver rail. This variant is legal in jurisdictions like Massachusetts since it has no bayonet lug and a 10 round magazine. Its buttstock is fixed; that is, it will not collapse. Even with all its politically correct features it will not, however, pass muster for California civilian transfers. The rail is a Weaver type multiple dovetail. Weaver type rings will mount directly onto the receiver, but a person will probably be best served by using an adapter base available from Weaver and Leupold. This MP-15 has a 16 inch medium barrel, full diameter all the way even under the handguard, and field reports indicate these are exceptionally accurate, even with a short barrel.
