Here is the shotgun that busted the pricy competition in the 1990s, the Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag in weather-resistant parkerized matte finish with pebble ridged synthetic buttstock and forend. Finish is military parkerized steel barrel and magazine tube with lightweight matte anodized black receiver. This is, of course, a pump or slide action shotgun, and capacity ranges from 5 + 1 rounds for 2 3/4 inch shells up to 3 + 1 rounds for 3 1/2 inchers. Barrel is 24 inch vent rib ported, chambered for all three lengths of 12 gauge shells with double bead sights. All Ulti-Mag barrels like this one are threaded to accept any Mossberg Accu-Mag or Winchester or Browning Invector Plus Choke Tubes. The Ultra-Full tube measures .697 internal muzzle diameter, and coupled with the back-bored system it produces extremely tight dense patterns, not for steel shot. This 835 comes equipped with an Outdoor Connection wide strap nylon sling and swivels. Weight empty is just under 8 pounds. This particular shotgun shows minimal surface wear, only faint superficial scuffing on the receiver with no finish penetration, and a faint amount of whitening on the double steel slide arms. We rate this 835 as Excellent, since less than 10 percent of its surfaces are affected by any contact evidence by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent.
