Here is a local one owner Remington 700 Special Purpose, ADL/S variant, manufactured in August of 1995 from its W P date code. Caliber is .270 Winchester, ADL type action with internal 4+1 capacity box magazine. ADL means that the stock does not have a hinged floorplate, and the stock is much stronger without that cutout in it. Consequently, the rifle will probably hold zero better than a BDL type, especially if the rifle gets bumped. This .270 has a 22 inch Special Purpose matte finish and has its original iron sights. Surface contact wear only amounts to faint whitening of the finish on the edges of the muzzle and receiver, with some weakness to the finish on the receiver sides. Sights are original factory steel iron sights, adjustable for windage and elevation. Note that the anodized finish of the trigger guard shows some whitening on its edge. Any scouring to the synthetic stock is minimal, and the original recoil pad is supple and correctly fitted. We rate this rifle as Very Good finishwise, since no more than 15 to 20 percent of its finish is affected by any kind of wear indications by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically, bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. From our knowledge of its exclusive owner, it has been fired fewer than 200 rounds, all with factory Remington and Winchster ammunition. The owner was not a handloader.
