Description: From its AET serial number prefix, this Smith & Wesson model 66-2 is an early Lear Siegler revolver from 1984. It appears to have been polished at some point, but there are moderate pecks and scratches visible from its life before it was polished, visible but not conspicuous here and there. Light pecking and scuffing is also visible on the sharp frame and trigger guard edges primarily on the more exposed right side. Lateral cylinder surface has 5-10 percent moderate pecky scratching, as the photos show. There are two small areas on the cylinder surface with light to moderate pecking. This revolver, however, still deserves the designation Very Good on our view, but the photos should suffice for the definitive grader, the prospective owner, to judge for him- or herself. We will have the Hogue Monogrip replaced with a new set by the time this revolver goes up on the net. Note the attractive state of the satin stainless hammer and trigger, and only moderate wear indications to the rear sight edges. Stress indications are moderate to negligible on the sight windage and middle sideplate screws, and more pronounced to the forward sideplate screw and two upper sight screws, as the photos show. This revolver is Excellent mechanically. Bore and cylinder chambers are excellent, as the photos show. Lateral wobble or cylinder movement is moderate with the trigger relaxed, and negligible with the trigger pulled all the way. Blast effect to the underside of the frame topstrap directly above the forcing cone is very light, only appears to be etching that traverses about 40 percent of the topstrap width. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a little better than average, .005. Double action trigger pull is very smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels 10 to 15 degrees after the cylinder times into place in that mode. In Single Action, the hammer travels a full 30 degrees after the cylinder times, and the single action trigger pull is light, less than 4 pounds, and crisp. On the whole, despite its being buffed, this is a very respectable, very well preserved – and very well made to begin with Model 66 Smith & Wesson. Its excellent mechanical condition contradicts the popular assumption that Lear Siegler revolvers were inferior. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
