This very attractive Smith & Wesson .357 Combat Magnum comes to us from our friends in Illinois where it served our fellow citizens mostly on guard duty there. Surface detractions are only moderate. Sile Rosewood target grips are near mint and period appropriate, no speedloader cut. Right edges of the frame and muzzle show whitening, with one whitened place on the side plate from contact with the issue Target Stocks. Left side wear indications are mostly confined to the side of the muzzle. Cylinder rotation marking is minimal. We rate this 19-4 as a strong Very Good specimen since we estimate that 85 percent of its original finish is intact; photos, however, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is only moderate, a shallow crease that traverses about 4/5 of the width of the top strap. Double action trigger pull is tight but smooth, and the hammer travels an additional 3 to 5 degrees in all six positions after the cylinder times into place on double action. On single action, the hammer travels an additional 20 to 25 degrees on all six after the cylinder times, and the single action trigger pull is a stiff but crisp 5 1/4 pounds. This is a thoroughly traditional 19. Casehardened hammer is .375 semi-target, and trigger is .315 smooth combat of matching coloration, quite modern during the Year of Manufacture, President Reagan's Election Year of 1980, according to the 71K serial number prefix. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a perfect .007. Sights are standard adjustable black leaf rear and black ramp front sight. Own this very nice Smith & Wesson 19-4 for only $ 519.95.
