The lockplate is marked Gallager’s Patent July 17th 1860, Mfg’d by Richardson and Overman Philada Serial #16220 Metal overall has a dark aged patina finish with pitting and surface rust in areas the lockplate, buttplate breech area. This carbine would clean up and make a fine shooter as it has a near excellent bore and mechanics. The chamber area is very clean.
