For as long as we have been in business, the best magazines are factory magazines for semi-auto firearms. Presently, the Sig factory trusts only one subcontractor for its magazines: Mec-Gar. These magazines free-fall like they're supposed to; they lock the breech open on the last shot like they're supposed to; we've never had One stick a spring or follower. They are, in short, vastly less likely to mis-perform than any aftermarket magazines. Here are representatives of the Mec-Gar 13 round magazine, manufactured for the Sig-Sauer Compact P-228 and P-229 pistols chambered in 9mm caliber. These are Factory Sig Magazines; Mec-Gar is Sig’s primary contractor. Mec-Gar quality control is always up to Sig specs. Mec-Gar magazines, write the factory technicians, are constructed from certified carbon steel and feature a heat treated housing and a hi-impact polymer or certified carbon steel follower and floorplate. Magazines in the photos were issued to the Swiss State Police 7 or 8 years ago, and evidently held in reserve because they show no significant amounts of wear.
