Description: Smith & Wesson Model 39-2, 9mm DA/SA Auto Pistol. This DA/SA 9mm Smith Model 39-2 is in excellent condition and has never been fired. The handsome Smith & Wesson factory blue finish and factory checkered wooden grips with S&W medallions with its original box & papers. The bore is excellent. Double-action trigger pull is smooth as butter. The pistol has an adjustable rear sight, and fine checkering on the back-strap for a secure grip. Smith & Wesson automatics are often overlooked, but the S&W quality is as good as on their revolvers. This is a heck of a nice pistol that will serve well as a duty gun, concealed carry, and home defense weapon with two magazines. Smith & Wesson Model 39-2 Serial # A422491.

The Smith and Wesson Model 39 were developed for the US Army service pistol trials of 1949. It went on the market in 1955 and was the first of Smith & Wesson's first generation semi-automatic pistols. The Model 39 was manufactured with an anodized aluminum frame with a curved backstrap and a blued carbon steel slide that carries the manual safety. The grip is made of two walnut wood panels joined by a metal backstrap. It has the magazine release located at the rear of the trigger guard, similar to the M1911A1. On left side of slide, (SMITH & WESSON MADE IN U.S.A., MARCAS REGISTRADAS, SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS.). On the frame Serial #A422491 Model 39-2. The last S&W model 39-2 (S/N A747148) was shipped from the factory on February 15, 1983; as regular production ended it 1982. This one was manufactured in 1977.
