Remington 1894 BE- FACTORY ORIGINAL AS NEW, THE BEST ON EARTH?
Pretty big claim, “THE BEST ON EARTH”, but I think all will agree that I have come across the very best BE Grade Remington 1894 12ga. in existence. This fantastic Remington was made in 1900 and as a graded Remington ejector double it is a rare enough gun. Add 99.5% bold, vivid, FACTORY, case color, Damascus pattern, and wood finish, including checkering and you have a ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A NEAR NEW REMINGTON GRADED DOUBLE. Most of us know what makes a good investment quality firearm; low production, unusual features, and factory original condition. You can buy this shotgun knowing you are not spending money but rather investing money in a tangible item that you can enjoy, care for, and sell at a later date for more than you paid for it. HOW FUN IS THAT?
The 30” fine Damascus barrels have 99% factory pattern showing, no dings, dents, or pits, excellent bores with no pitting, tight ribs that ring like church bells, choked F/F (.034/.034, can be opened for $60 per barrel), 2 ¾” chambers, .725/.727 bore diameter (factory, never honed or backbored), minimum wall thickness of 42 thousandths (wow!), no major marks anywhere, tight on breech face and hinge pin like a new gun should be, ejectors strong and well timed. These are barrels that can be shot with modern, soft shot ammo up to 1 1/4oz. loads with no issues. Just a gorgeous set of Damascus barrels.
The receiver is incredible in all its factory glory, retaining virtually all of the vibrant case color, perfect screws, sharp clear engraving, crisp double triggers, action tight with lever well right of center, ejectors strong and well timed, just a perfect example of a factory new Remington. The only sign of wear on the metal is the trigger guard tang has slight wear to the niter blue, retaining 95% blue.
The wood is in excellent condition with the original factory finish at about 97%, just a few light handling marks, near perfect factory checkering, crisp original butt plate, no cracks, splits, or repairs, LOP 14 1/8”, 3 1/8” drop at heel, 1 7/8” drop at comb, 1/8” cast on (can be bent to your specs, however I would not recommend altering this historically important original Remington in any way), superb wood to metal fit. The wood is in simply amazing factory original condition.
I have been chasing vintage American double shotguns for nearly 2 decades. You rarely encounter engraved, graded guns in any condition, let alone nearly new. If you have considered having one of every maker as a representative in your collection, this is a great investment quality gun that cannot be topped when it comes to condition. If timing were different I would never sell this gun.
There are more photos upon request. There is a 30 day mechanical warranty on this gun.
