This is a very clean Colt Single Action Army revolver shipped about 1907 (serial #296xxx), in .38 WCF (.38-40) caliber. It has been nickeled outside the factory and the markings are faint due to buffing and the nickel finish. The mechanics and lock up are tight and the bore has sharp rifling with minor shallow pitting. The grips are vintage and well fit to the gun, with no cracks. It would appear the hammer has been replaced, and the hammer spring has a leather shim (certainly removable) which makes the cocking easier than original. It's a little better tuned than when it came off the shelf.
