We believe this fine Italian replica of the Colt 1862 Pocket Model revolver is Pietta manufacture, but Armi San Marco, Uberti, and Pedersoli have all made them. This one’s date code is BZ, 2005 manufacture, and it is a very well made revolver. Caliber is .36 Black Powder, barrel length is 5 1/2 inch blue steel with color casehardened loading arm; cylinder is blue fluted 5 shot; frame proper and hammer are both color casehardened; brass grip frame and Italian Walnut grip panels. Weight empty is only 25 3/8 ounces; and the original Colt was the Airweight Chief’s Special of its era. This revolver comes to us from an estate in neighboring Henderson County, Tennessee, and it is immaculate, possibly never fired. Surface detractions are minimal, no rust indications and only moderate toning to the brass grip frame. Grip panels are full strength glossy finish with only one small scour on the left panel. We rate this 1862 Pocket as Excellent, since no more than 5 percent of its finish is affected by any contact evidence; photos ought to suffice so that our shoppers can judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, cylinder chambers and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Replacement price on this revolver is upwards of $400 in our area.
