Serial number is G2220000 range on this Winchester Model 70, and we estimate it was manufactured in 1997 or 1998. This is a well maintained local rifle; in fact, it is one of the rare trade-ins that we did not have to clean. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint superficial streaking on the black resin Winchester stock and light scuffing and speckling to the unblued jeweled bolt surface. Barrel is 26 inches, chambered for the venerable and popular .300 Winchester Magnum. Length of pull from the center of the serrated face adjustable trigger to the end of the 1 inch recoil pad is the original 13 3/4 inches. Magazine is internal box type, 4+1 capacity. The ADL type stock without hinged floorplate is stronger and better for magnum grade rifles like this one. Scope mounts are matte Leupold two-piece Torx head. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. This is truly a fine rifle. Winchester of New Haven, where this one was made, closed its doors in 2006 and the current model 70s are manufactured at the FN Plant in South Carolina.
