From a New England collection comes this solid and collectable Llama model V pistol chambered in 9mm Largo caliber. From its O date code, it was manufactured in 1944. Many of its production mates served on all sides during World War II. Since this specimen is Not import stamped, it is possibly a bring back. Manufacturer was Llama Gabilondo y Cia, S.A., of Elgoibar, Spain. Type is Browning design Government semi auto pistol. Construction is entirely steel metal, with Cut Checkered Spanish Walnut grips. Barrel is 5 1/8 inch .530 outside diameter right hand six groove 1:10 rifling. Slide is serrated rear, government size with internal extractor and standard bushing and spring. Sights are integral low half moon front, and dovetailed low steel rear. Trigger is .240 serrated face target, with .425 checkered serration spur hammer. Trigger pull gauges a reasonably crisp but stiff 10 pounds. Safety is left side lever for a right handed shooter, the V never had a grip safety, magazine safety, or firing pin safety. Magazine is original issue 9 shot. Chambering is 9mm Bergman Bayard, also known as 9mm Largo. Even though a .38 Super or 9x23 Winchester round will chamber in this pistol, a person should not attempt firing it with either of those unless so advised by a competent gunsmith. We are neither competent nor gunsmiths. Weight empty is 40 ounces with center of gravity at the magazine release. Finish is blue steel, and substantial portions of the bluing survive. Surface detractions on this Llama are extensive but even, principally brown toning. We rate it as Good, 60 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean.We do not believe this pistol was fired more than 400 times, and that not with corrosive ammo. This is a somewhat rare pistol.
