Since Gerber does not date code its knives, we estimate this one was manufactured in the mid 1990s from the age of the Case and Buck knives that came from the same local collection. This is one of Gerber’s larger folding lockblades, their model 650. It is clearly stamped Portland, OR. U.S.A. on the reverse blade tang, Gerber 650 on the obverse as the photos show. This Gerber has seen very little actual use, and we do not believe it has ever been sharpened. We detect only one small buff contact place on the obverse side of the blade, and a bit more faint streaking on the reverse, as photos show. Scabbard is original and Very Good to Excellent with no fraying to its black nylon surfaces or stitching. We rate this Gerber 650 folder as Excellent, since no more than 10 percent of its surfaces are affected by contact scouring. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice so that prospective owners can judge finish grade for themselves. Type is drop-point lock blade folding hunter; blade length is 3 3/4 inches from point to heel; overall length is 8 1/2 inches open and 4 1/4 inches closed. Handle is pliable soft rubber with high impact polymer lining; and all steel pivot and lock mechanism. We’re offering this fine Gerber for only $ 29.00.
