This set of Smith & Wesson factory Goncalo Alves Target Grips were manufactured on Friday, January 27, 1984. Unless someone knows of a special order configuration, these are possibly factory errors; possibly professionally modified. Each panel’s grain matches the other well enough to be an original pair; and we do not believe they have ever been fired, certainly not much if at all. They came to us on a trade, installed on a 1985 manufactured 57-1. The parent revolver exhibited wear, so these grips were added to it some time in the 1990s after the revolver was retired. Note that the right panel has the convex speedloader cut or thumb rest. By our very poor memory, we dimly recall seeing factory Target Stocks like this one, where both panels had the cut, to accommodate Left Handed shooters. The left panel, interstingly, is configured with the traditional thumb rest instead of a speedloader cut. Both panels show full original glossy finish with no wear to the finish or to the logos.
