Offered is this fine 1894 Winchester saddle ring carbine in scarce 32-40 WCF caliber. Made in 1908 it has the 20 inch carbine barrel with post & blade front sight, Winchester #44A ladder style carbine rear sight. Barrel and magazine blue is thinning slightly but good solid 60-70% coverage. Bore has use wear but has good rifling. It is not pitted and should be a fine shooter. I rate the bore a strong 6+ on a 1 to 10 scale. The receiver has traces of original blue in protected areas but mostly a nice even silver patina due to the high nickel steel Winchester used in the early receivers. Mechanically excellent it feeds, chambers and ejects smoothly. The buttstock and forend are excellent at 75+% original finish. There is a tiny sliver missing at the upper left tang (photo #8), otherwise the wood is free of cracks, chips, dents and extra holes. The wood stands proud above metal in all areas, has not been sanded or refinished. A scarce, vintage Winchester in excellent condition for the discriminating collector.
